Welcome to acaply

acaply is a platform and service designed to tackle the inefficiencies that traditional A&R methods have thus far failed to resolve. Created by the same team behind UK based artist management company ANTHEM, the concept for acaply was born out of real everyday challenges that artists and professionals face in the industry. ​As a vocalist, when trying to connect with the most renowned artists in global dance music, one factor typically hinders creative output: logistics. The key players are regularly touring the globe year in year out, and making diaries line up for a session can be at best challenging, and at worst simply impossible. For many companies in the industry, margins are tightening. Studio time can often be costly and fail to yield the desired results. Further, when trying to get the right topline on a big instrumental and complete a record, time is money. All too often however, months can be lost trying out different vocals to no avail when trying to get a song over the line. For producers, searching for bespoke acapellas from established artists is an uncertain endeavour. Many vocalists lose session stems to the depths of an engineer's laptop, whilst few typically have a backed-up portfolio ready to share on demand. Even many notable publishers don’t have databases of their own writer's toplines. Having experienced these challenges representing parties on all sides of the table, the question arose: why does something not exist to tackle these issues? This led to the initial conceptualisation of acaply. For vocalists: dance music is the biggest growing market of music, surely it should be easier to break down the barriers to entry and get my vocals in the hands of artists that matter? The financial benefit of landing cuts, as well as the potential commercial benefit if those cuts release as collaborations / features, should be easier to access than it is given the demand for towlines. Our answer: we know the market and can help. For companies: why couldn’t there be a directory of vocals from established artists that we can plug in and test for records we’re trying to A&R to completion? Shouldn’t it also be easier to have a way of reaching vocalists in different territories and genres that we may not be as well connected in, to ensure we can finish our songs to the highest possible standard? Our answer: we have a new system that removes the hassle. For producers: vocals from royalty free sample marketplaces are overused and never lead to the possibility of audience sharing via a collaboration with the artist behind the voice. More often than not, a track needs a killer topline to be completed and ideally an artist to bring some profile to the release - shouldn’t it be possible to get access to a regular pipeline of material? Our answer: we can reach real artists and consistently deliver. This has led us to a new way of doing A&R: acaply. Our team sources original acapellas from renowned artists around the globe and provides regular drops to our invite / application only community within the acaply platform. This way: Vocalists write and record ideas knowing they’ll reach the producers and industry companies that can make a difference Producers / industry companies get a constant flow of new material to make their songs better, with the possibility for audience sharing and exclusive licensing In summary, the acaply ​process: acaply provides 5 packs per week of originally written & recorded acapellas to platform from established artists within genres and territories round the world Producers / industry companies can download up to 50 files per month and use the acapellas in their demos At the point they may want to explore a release, the producer / industry company can submit their demo to the artist via the platform If the artist is willing to discuss the release, a chat dialogue is opened, whereby terms, license exclusivity and level of credit are all discussed If both parties align on terms and complete deal, song is released. If acapella is licensed exclusively it’s removed from platform altogether We hope you enjoy acaply, the future of A&R.
